Nepal is considered a safe haven for foreign pedophiles because of weak and inadequate laws to punish those involved in this crime. Prevalence of corruption is another reason why perpetrators often escape punishment even if they are arrested red handed. There is a need to change the existing laws and provide for provisions, which would strictly punish perpetrators of child sexual abuse. Victims and their families lack knowledge about available legal provisions and ways by which legal action can be initiated against the abuser. Thus, it is necessary to make people aware about the legal provisions and lobby with concerned bodies to work for amendments in the law. The following activities are proposed so that legal action can be initiated against the abuser and to make sure that they get the maximum penalty.
